If you’re coming to Bukit Lawang, and want a true jungle experience, do not hesitate : this place is the best ! All the guesthouses and guides offer the same treks : 1, 2, 3 or more days in the jungle. They all have the same prices, and the treks are all the same, the camps in the jungle are shared… But what is different with this one is that Udin, the host, will take you to his lodge, in the middle of the forest. There are a few bungalows, built by him and his team, on a the hill, with an amazing view on the jungle ! You bungalow will be facing the sunrise, and you will already see some monkeys ! 🌄 So here’s what to expect : when you arrive in Bukit Lawang (the cheapest way is taking the public bus from Medan, Pinang : Baris station : 25k IDR), text Udin on WhatsApp so he can come pick you up at the bus station or call a rickshaw for you, to take you to his house in the village. Once there, you can choose your trekking experience : they can do anything for you, (we went for two days, one night in the jungle, and rafting for 90 euros each, it was perfect ! ). Then you can pack a smaller bag, or leave some stuff at his house, because you will walk around twenty minutes to the lodge, and the next morning you can leave for the trek ! 🥾 At the lodge, the food, water, coffee, tea are included, and got a second night for free when we came back from the trek ! 🍛 Our guides were Balu (Udin’s son) and Sam, and Mahadi cooked for us at the camp during the trek. It was an unforgettable adventure, we saw all the monkey species we could see, Orang Utans, turtle, tucan… Couldn’t have wished a best place to stay and best team to trek with, thank you !!! 🥰 That’s a long review but this place deserves it ! 🫶 (Don’t forget to withdraw cash before coming : no atm in Bukit lawang, but you can still get cash with 6% fees) Trip type Holiday Travel group Friends Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Child-friendly, Great value

Had an amazing experience with tour guide Balu, he showed us all kinds of primates including orangutan and lar gibbon. All of the other guides were very helpful and willing to do a lot for you. Will definently come back if I get fhe chance

I loved the stay in a hut so close to the nature, surrounded by quiet forest, stunning view and sound of river. Huts are simple, no electricity, which I liked. Owner took care of meals which were amazing. Also the trip to the jungle was very well organized with fruit snack and lunch. Huts are located on a hill to which lead a steep path but it is only 5 minutes hike. Alltogether maybe 30 minutes of walk from the village. You can leave your heavy stuff with owner and take only necessary things with you. During breakfast time expect visit of monkeys.

Had the best time here. Initially booked for 1 night and then stayed for another 3! They have options of staying in the village or in the jungle, a tree house. I picked the latter. The place is simple and Udin's family that runs the place is amazing. Balu (Udin's son) was our trekking guide for the day and he was amazing. We saw 3 orangutans (a mama and a baby, and a lone one) along with other monkeys. Udin's wife Nuri cooks the food and every meal was lip smacking delicious. I was happy to be eating home food after my travels. On my last night in the village, Nuri was nice enough to give me a chicken rendang cooking class in her kitchen and then we ate the same dish with the entire family. All in all, if you're doing a Bukit Lawang trip it has to be with this family, or else are you really getting the authentic experience?

We hebben een par geweldige dagen gehad bij Nazaruddin! 1 nachtje in de eco lodge aan de rand van de jungle doorgebracht. Daarna zijn we de jungle trekking gaan doen. Het team bestond uit zijn zoons (zij hebben ons gegidst) en Putra, de chef-kok. We deden 3 dagen en 2 nachten en we hebben het fantastisch gehad! Beginnend bij het eten: elke keer werd er heerlijke lunch voor tijdens de tocht voor ons gemaakt en avondeten eenmaal aangekomen bij het tentenkamp. Zijn zoons weten veel over de omgeving en vertellen ook veel leuke dingen over de jungle en over de flora en fauna. We hebben van alles gezien Orang-utans van heel dichtbij, maar ook gibbon, pigtail, Thomas en makaken. Er werd heel goed voor ons gezorgd en we kijken dan ook terug op een prachtige ervaring, echt mogelijk gemaakt door het hele team! Terima kasih banjak!

De lodge is erg mooi gelegen middenin de natuur. Ik had wel begrepen dat er een jungle trekking te boeken was, maar ik had niet door dat ik deze bij aankomst meteen moest boeken en contant moest afrekenen. Achteraf las ik dat wel in de recensies, maar wel belangrijk hier rekening mee te houden. Er is namelijk geen ATM, alleen een wisselkantoor die 6% extra rekent. De host heeft wel goed voor mij gezorgd, hij heeft mij gehaald en gebracht naar het busstation. De gids die hij heeft geregeld voor de trekking was ook erg goed. Het is laagseizoen, dus ik was de enige in de lodge, maar ik heb erg genoten van de trekking.

Es war einfach traumhaft! Die Lage, der Ausblick und die Geräuschkulisse des Dschungels ist einzigartig. Super zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit, alle Wünsche wurden erfüllt. Man darf kein Hotelaufenthalt erwarten. Strom sowie Internet sind nicht vorhanden, was jedoch positiv war. Ein MUSS in Sumatra!

The place is magical and away from the town. Even though it’s already a peaceful town on its own, this place puts you right in nature and close enough to make day trips to the town for lunch or other things. Be aware that it a 35-40 minute walk away from the town so if you’re arriving late he will wait for you and guide to get there cause you can’t find it on your own. For us it was raining when we arrived and it was dark so we didn’t want to go through that so we decided to stay in town the first night. We went to a place he recommended that unfortunately wasnt the nicest. You can find many other nice places next to the river for only 150k for a room. I advice you do the same and book this place starting the second night if you are getting there late. I highly recommend this place, we had a magical time in nature and with very nice hosts. Obviously book directly with Udin your jungle trek. It’s the same price anywhere.
